Savee for iOS is a brand-new app. Rebuilt from the ground up, fully native, and faster in every way.
That's what the App Store page says. Here's the part it doesn't.
Friday night, 5pm
It was the end of the week, and instead of closing the laptop I did something I'd been putting off for years: I asked Claude to look into our codebase and tell me how much work it would take to rebuild our app fully native.
I'm not an iOS engineer. I'm a designer. For years I wanted a truly native Savee app — the kind where scrolling feels like glass and every detail is exactly where you'd put it. And for years it stayed on the someday list, waiting for a team we didn't have.
That Friday, I stopped waiting. I opened Claude Code and started building it myself.

Build the things you wish existed
Using the app every day, I knew exactly what was missing. I'd been keeping the list for years.
A Save extension that finally works the way people actually save. So much of what inspires us lives inside Instagram, and saving from there always felt like fighting the phone. Now you share to Savee and you're back in your feed before the animation finishes.
A grid that's yours. Pinch the feed and it reflows: one column or four, square corners or round. It sounds like a small thing. It's exactly the kind of small thing that never survives a roadmap meeting, and exactly the kind of thing I built at midnight because I wanted it.

I got addicted
I couldn't stop. One feature at a time: Claude wrote the Swift, built the app, and screenshotted the simulator to check its own work. I tested every build on my phone and answered with the kind of feedback designers give: two points left, lighter tint, that corner radius is wrong. Then another round. And another.
The nav bar alone went through a whole glass experiment — rim light, diagonal sheen, edge lensing — before we reverted the entire thing back to the simple bar. That's the real process. Not magic, just very fast iteration, with taste as the only spec.
When about 20 beta testers had it on their phones and the feedback kept coming back good, I knew it was ready. We submitted, and Apple approved it in less than 24 hours.

Why I'm writing this
Because I think something changed for designers. The distance between an idea and shipping used to be a team, a budget, and a year. Now it's a conversation. The ideas we used to hand off, or shelve, we can just build.
Savee 3.0 is on the App Store. It's the app I always wanted us to have.

I hope you enjoyed the journey — I had a lot of fun building it.
Gracias,
Andre
